Sister N Law

My sister N law was served with divorce papers on Monday. They have been together since they were freshmen (??) in highschool. They are now 29/30. They have a daughter who is in first grade and a son who hasn't started school yet. She's shocked!
We knew there was something going on in January with one of his co-workers but couldn't really believe that he would be the type of guy to do that. A month ago yesterday I was on my way home from work and "spotted" his car and this skanks car sitting on top of the Interstate exit. I called my sister n law and told her. He came home that night, grabbed some of his stuff, left her and has NOT looked back.
Oh yes, by the way, the skank is 20 years old!!!

Scrappy is so right. Just ask my dad how that goes!

I'm so sorry you SIL is going through this. I know from experience divorce is hard not only on the main family but extended family as well.

Then she is better off...she does not need to shed a tear for him...he has given her the greatest gift...her freedom from future heartbreak...Shocking or not, it is for the best!

It hurts like hell, but she is going to have to suck it up for the sake of the kids.

One rule for break-ups, NEVER (under any circumstances) bring the kids into it. Taking the high road is a much harder climb, but the view from up there is clear and sweet.

One rule for supporting your SIL - listen and empathize, but keep your mouth shut.
Again, for the sake of the kids, that is their dad and they have a right to continue to love and look up to him, regardless of what is happening between the parents. Anyone who thinks bad-mouthing either parent will not affect the children is a complete idiot. JMHO

There are plenty of fish in the sea and SIL is so young she'll have no problem catching one if she wants one.

The best revenge is to live well & be happy; though she may have trouble seeing it now, it is the truth.

My parents divorced when I was 14 years old. They brought my youngest brother into it and it wasn't good. Hopefully SIL can keep the kids out of it and try to keep them neutral, even though I'm sure it's hard for her. Luckily both kids are more Mommies babies then Daddys.....
